Q. Charlana, we are excited to share your story. Tell us, have you always had a passion to become an actress? And how did you get started?
I knew when I was young I wanted to act. I attended a performing arts middle school in Hollywood and we would have film productions shoot on our campus. I really loved being apart of the production when we were asked. Thats when I knew I really wanted to do this.
Q. Last month, you returned for your second season on the Amazon Prime series "Cycles" in which you play a character called "Nina". Can you tell us more about the show and the type of character you play?
Cycles is about a group of millennials trying to find their place post college. They have their ups and downs which makes it so real. This show is real life. Real life characters with real life stories. Nina was a fire cracker in season 1, in season 2 she has calmed down a lot. You will have to check it out. It premieres in Feb 2020 on Amazon Prime.
Q. Out of the many roles that you've played, which role was or is your favorite?
I would say this devious character I played in a short film called Let's Play. My character was the leader of a 'cult". It was so much fun!
Q. You are quit the athlete. You studied at Florida A&M University while on a full Tennis Scholarship. Why the switch from athlete to actress? and are there any plans to pursue both at the same time?

I started playing tennis at a very young age. I played so much I was blessed enough to get a full scholarship to college. My focus was mainly tennis while growing up and of course school was the the mandatory focus but being an athlete was something I believe I was born into. It really just in my bloodline! I still am an athlete and will always be one. The actress is something Im pursing as an all time goal because I love it.
Q. Do you have any upcoming projects in the works?

I am currently working on a project I wrote and produced called "Sponsored" The short will be dropping in 2020. It about the Los Angeles and the nightlife.
Q. Switching gears. What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like to spend time with my family. Family is the most important in my life :) I like to do anything with family.
Q. How do you stay motivated?

I stay prayed up and I just go after what I want. I won't stop until I get what I have worked very hard for. That keeps me motivated.
Q. What are some of the challenges you face as an actress? How do you overcome them?

Just not being where I want to be. I have to tell myself everyday its ok, stay motivated, and keep going. Everyday! There are times I may have a thought about quitting but but push those thoughts away quickly.
Q. What advice can you give to aspiring millennials who would like to make an impact in the entertainment industry?

Go after what you want. Go get it and don't stop until you get it.
