The College and Career Maven, Shawntia Lee

Shawntia Lee is a boss millennial who’s breaking barriers for college success. She founded College Thriver, Inc to create higher education opportunities for low income, minority students. As a leader, her organization is determined to provide educational consulting; training and development; student support; career readiness; essay writing support; and professional development. As a seasoned veteran in the higher education field, Shawntia was determined to assist students in thriving in college by realizing their full potential.

College Thriver, Inc is starting a College and Career Readiness Boot Camp this year. The goal of the boot camp is to demystify the stigma associated with Ivy League admission standards. The new boot camp is set to provide the following:

  1. Showing students how to realize their potential and skillset that they possess to leverage their college benefits.

  2. Enhance student knowledge and understanding of Ivy League college qualifications and expectations.

  3. Enhance knowledge and understanding of writing compelling college essays.

  4. Knowledge of how to leverage their community service and academic involvement to improve the strength of their college application.

  5. Introduce a strong knowledge base of networking skills.

Shawntia is also aware of the new changes in which COVID-19 is bringing about for college students. She offers these tips for online learning during this current pandemic:

  • Focus and Remain Distraction Free. Whether that means turning off the TV or going to a quiet room in your home, less distraction is best.

  • Break Up Your Tasks. Work for 30 minutes then take a break to exercise, listen to music or to go for a walk. Looking at the computer screen for too long can become boring.

  • Zoom It Up. For live, Zoom classes it’s best to speak up and ask questions during the session. Your professors are still recording participation points so it’s still necessary to be present during the class session. If you don’t know about the material, then always ask.

Shawntia’s passion and drive is combined with over 15 years of professional experience. She is truly a trailblazer in higher education. To connect with College Thriver, Inc please visit www.college-thriver.org or send an email to admissions@collegethriver.org.
